Known for its unique customer service campaigns, Zappos’ latest initiative is going to the dogs—literally! The online footwear and accessories retailer is teaming up with North Shore Animal League to sponsor adoptions at select shelters across 36 cities every Friday leading up to its annual Home for the Pawlidays campaign (launching Nov. 24). The e-tailer has already stopped in cities across Southern California, Illinois and New York.
Next up: Nevada and Pennsylvania. To date, Zappos has rescued 17,846 animals. “At our core, Zappos.com is a service company. Friend on us Fridays presented by Zappos for Good is a way for us to extend our special brand of service to customers in a different way by rescuing both pets and humans by uniting them as BFFs,” says Steven Bautista, Karma Kommando at Zappos.com. “Our goal with Pawlidayz, and now Friends On Us Fridays, is bringing happiness to our customers in a heartfelt way.”

Working in tandem with North Shore Animal League America (NSALA), Zappos will announce new cities every week with multiple NSALA shelter partners participating in an effort to find responsible, loving homes for rescued animals. Prospective pet parents across the country can vote for their city to be included by visiting Zappos.com/Pets and requesting Friends On Us Fridays come to their town.
