New York–Dragons are having quite a year! First there’s that girl with that tattoo, then we’re seeing dragons all over children’s clothes as the new motif and that movie about training one, and even the award-winning HBO hit “Game of Thrones” promises a whole slew of dragons next season.

So it’s an interesting coincidence that the  Chinese Calendar has coined 2012 as the Year of the Dragon (which sounds a lot more optimistic than the Mayan Calendar’s End of the World if you ask us!).

John Hardy’s Naga collection depicts the legendary dragon that must dive from his volcano-top home to the sea to visit his love (the pearl). His return each morning sends water through the rice fields, creating a bountiful harvest.
