New York and Toronto—Xcel Brands, the brand development and media company behind Isaac Mizrahi, H Halston and C. Wonder, announced today that it has entered into an exclusive with Hudson’s Bay Company and Lord & Taylor to develop a rapid response inventory system which will allow the retailer to better manage its inventory and respond more quickly to customer needs.
Under the agreement, Xcel will design and manage the manufacturing of products in an innovative Quick Time Response supply chain for four of Xcel’s proprietary brands including IMNYC (designed by Isaac Mizrahi), H Halston, C. Wonder Limited and an additional brand targeting Millennials created exclusively for the program. The innovative Quick Time Response supply chain model was developed by Xcel to create new ways for retailers to manage inventory in today’s market environment.
Xcel CEO Robert D’Loren said the model would allow the retailer to order one item in a few colors and if one color starts selling out, more can easily be ordered from the manufacturer. The objective of the system will be to keep retailers from ordering inventory that may not sell.
“We’re excited by the opportunity to partner with Xcel Brands to deliver compelling product to our customers in Canada and the United States,” noted Liz Rodbell, president, Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor. “This new business model will help us quickly react to what’s working and better serve our customers.”
The collections will be available at Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s Bay retail stores, and on both lordandtaylor.com and thebay.com beginning Spring 2016.
Meanwhile, D’Loren revealed that Xcel plans to re-launch C. Wonder on QVC in the spring of 2016 and in Hudson’s Bay stores in the fall. “We think Chris Burch did an amazing job of reaching 5 generations of happy customers with the brand,” he added.
