Want to really keep up with the Kardashians? Then get yourself a 20-carat engagement ring, pronto!

Celebrity (and royal) engagement rings have long been the subject of envy—and imitation. Such is surely to be the case with Kim Kardashian’s blinding ring, proudly flaunted on the cover of People magazine for all the world to see.

A Rock to Rival Royalty?

And while we expect the costume-jewelry knock-offs to be knocked-down in size a bit, we’re not so sure. People do seem to really want to keep up with the Kardashians!

Kim’s very bling-a-ling ring, recently presented to her by boyfriend Kris Humphries, features a 16.5-carat emerald-cut center stone flanked by two 2-carat trapezoid stones (if you want to put that in perspective, take a glance at your left hand and imagine your own diamond enlarged and set as a mere side stone).

The NBA player reportedly shelled out $2 million dollars for Kim’s ring, stating, “I just knew I wanted it to be big.” Indeed.

While Kim was reportedly surprised by the proposal by her boyfriend of just six months, she’d been dreaming about such a ring for years. In fact, as she told People magazine: “In high school I went to Macy’s and bought this fake ring, my ‘perfect’ ring, and this is almost the exact same.”

The ring was designed by Kim’s friend and “celebrity jeweler” Lorraine Schwartz, who’se designed engagement rings for the likes of Beyonce and other stars.

The Kardashian sisters obviously love themselves some bling, both real and faux. This year, Kim launched a costume jewelry line called Belle Noel, following on the heels of a jewelry collaboration done with her sisters and jewelry company Virgin, Saints & Angels. Kim also recently launched a watch line.

A cheaper way to emulate the engagement? Spell out “will you marry me?” in rose petals like Humphries did.
