Attleboro Falls, MA—Although Whiting & Davis is most closely associated with its line of iconic mesh handbags, the 137-year-old company returns again to its silversmithing roots with the reintroduction this month into fashion jewelry.

Two year ago, Whiting & Davis launched its fine jewelry collection consisting of sterling silver, 18K and gemstone mesh jewelry, but had left the fashion jewelry industry in the 1990s when private label collections were on the rise.

Each piece in the new fashion jewelry line is designed at the Massachusetts-based studio and crafted in Massachusetts or Rhode Island, remaining dedicated to Made in America jewelry.

Designs feature bright gold and hematite on hammered textures, pave crystals and rhinestones, and a palette of coral, turquoise, periwinkle, white, black, olive, brown and garnet. The 30-piece collection ranges at  retail from $85 to $575 and features necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings.

A highlight is a three-coil snake bracelet decorated with crystals and enameled colors filling the scale of its body. The brand’s renowned metal mesh was also transformed: every mesh plate filled with a pool of opaque or translucent color. The iconic Whiting & Davis snake made its first appearance in the late 1890s, and through the decades becoming synonymous with the brand. www.whitinganddaviscollection.com.
