Handbags from Michael Kors: NOT for sale at Costco?

Handbags from Michael Kors: NOT for sale at Costco?

New York—Shoes and handbags–which most women say they just can’t get enough of–were very much in the news this week.

In a lawsuit against wholesale club giant Costco, Michael Kors Holdings charged the retailer with using “bait and switch” tactics in a Mother’s Day ad for $99 designer handbags. Another well known designer seeing red? Christian Louboutin revealed he had settled a lawsuit with Charles Jourdan Footwear over a supposed trademark infringement of Louboutin’s signature red-soled shoes.
On the heels of Queen Elizabeth’s 60th Coronation Festival, her handbag supplier says the  87-year-old monarch still commands fashion clout of her own (so there Kate!).

Speaking of clout in footwear, The NPD Group, Inc. says that Hispanic women represent a burgeoning opportunity for shoe sales, especially if a retailer tweaks assortments to styles this growing population loves.
