Former shelter magazine editors Cara Gibbs and Jesse Bratter (who have bylines in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Vogue Living, Luxe and more) are teaming up on a new venture, called In the Pursuit, launching today. The online marketplace is a curated shop for small artisan brands in the design, food, beauty and accessories categories that aims to marry content and commerce.
Of course, the site also features an online magazine called “Story” that editorializes the artists and their products. Issue One features fashion designer Peter Pilotto’s London townhouse as well as Q&As with a Berlin-based perfumer, a NY wallpaper designer and an LA jewelry brand.
“As a former design editor for a national network of luxury shelter publications, I’ve built relationships with creatives across the country. I’ve spent every single day of the last 11 years being inspired by every single one of them,” says Bratter. In The Pursuit strongly believes that a product is only as good as its history, which is why each brand featured on the site is interesting and original. Gibbs agrees, “My experience afforded me the chance to become entrenched in local markets and connected to the creatives that inhabit them.”
