Tourneau Releases First ‘Watch Book’

Watch BookNew York—As one of the largest watch retailers in the United States, Tourneau has long been a launching pad for the latest timepiece—from more than 100 brands. Now the retailer is offering something “hot off the presses”—a book.

The 270-page hardcover features insight from the watch industry’s foremost experts, with chapters spanning a range of topics from timepiece history to conceptual designs. The book will be available for purchase in all 30 Tourneau stores. Retail: $150.

The Watch Book reflects Tourneau’s collective and historic watch knowledge and expertise that we look forward to sharing with our customers every day,” said Ira Melnitsky, chief executive at Tourneau. “It pays homage to the storied history of the timepiece, but also takes a look into the exciting future of the industry that we’re all so proud to be a part of.”

The Watch Book is a collaborative effort between journalists, bloggers, designers and Tourneau’s own design and marketing teams. Anders Modig, an accomplished writer and creative director for several Swiss watch brands, is the book’s editor in chief. Photos are by Nathan Beck with additional editors from Sotheby’s, Financial Times,, Revolution USA, Vanity Fair On Time and JCK Magazine.

The latest on watch design is discussed in roundtable form by the most acclaimed watch designers in the world and a chapter on manufacturing gives a behind the scenes look into the watchmaking process at Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe and Jaeger-LeCoultre. The individuals who made the biggest imprint on the watch world this year are all profiled, from chief executives of the most established brands to new challengers on the horlogerie scene.
