The Accessories That Caught Our Eye at NYFW FW18

In What's New, Industry News by Lauren Parker, Accessories Magazine

NYFW has left an indelible mark on our accessories psyches. And while we can’t show everything that we loved, here are a few items we’re still thinking about:

Hoop Dreams…
Tom Ford was shooting major hoops on the runway. These giant hoops were actually 14 pavé balls, made all the more prominent by hair pushed back by a leather band.

We ♥ Veils
Sheer face veils showed up on numerous runways at New York Fashion Week, but we particularly love the ones by Adam Selman encrusted with little hearts.

Pearls for Cool Girls…
This asymmetrical pearl earring set features a dual pearl cuff on one side and a sweeping pearl duster on the other. They look just as good from either direction or head on. Note the throwback hair stretch comb accessory too!

Lavender Fields…
This Cushnie et Ochs bag is so simple, but we love it for its gorgeous suede, soft lavender/lilac color, satin-wrapped handle, and boxy shape. This color will be everywhere this year, but this interpretation  stands out.

She Sells Seashells…
Seashells have replaced gemstones in many a new jewelry collection, even showing up on the Fall collections. Phillip Lim strung them on short and long necklaces, here worn cross body.

We Know Where the Bodies are Buried…
Looking for a bag big enough to  store a body? Or 8 changes of clothing for a day at Fashion Week? Victoria Beckham’s got your covered. Literally.

A Prairie Home Companion
Zimmermann took the popular ruffled Victoriana/Prairie look and made it practical with utilitarian belt bags and canteen-like attachments. It’s an Annie Get Your Gun Gone Couture moment.

Wanna Buy a Watch?
Libertine is doing what it can to boost the beleaguered watch industry with fun watch appliqués. Of course what really turned our heads here were the nails with leather tassels and crystal-encrusted sheers!

Someone’s Got Olympic Fever …
Raf Simons might’ve been a bit overly excited for the skiing events at the winter Olympic. These full-on knit face masks are perfect for an afternoon on the cold slopes. And even apres ski if you can pull it off.

Logo Legwear Gets the Party Started …
Last year, Alexander Wang paraded models down the runway in NO AFTER PARTY sheers. This year, he’s going with his own name; a new frontier for logo’d accessories.

Framed Bag? Check!
Framed handbags are a huge trend for FW18, but they often have a vintage slant to them. Mansur Gavriel took the framed bag and updated it with a red and white gingham-style check pattern for a classic Americana feel.

Lace-Up Love…
Jason Wu took the lace-up ghillie flat and elevated it (literally) with a stiletto heel. Done in a variety of colors with contrast stitching, we love mix of sporty and elegance.

Jaws of Life…
If the 80s/90s scrunchie can have a second life, so can the banana/jaw clip, turned into a runway moment by Alexander Wang.
Bring. It. On!
