The concept retailer might’ve been bought by Macy’s, but luckily for us, STORY’s Chelsea store still stands as the best example of experiential retail around. The conceptual retailer’s 41st story is the perfect summer follow up to “Future of Work,” the last story.
Part staycation, part invitation to play hooky from cubicles and conference calls, “Of of Office” offers essentials to kick back in color, get your pool float on, and let that call go to voicemail. There’s a punchy poolside vibe, grounded by a dip worthy mural from artist Georgia Elrod and plunge-tastic pieces from Solid and Striped, Chubbies, and Onia. Of course there are Instagram moments too, like Funboy floats.
STORY serves up many ways to hit refresh without checking an email. Dirty Lemon, the Instagram darling of bottled beverages (and charcoal lemonade) are pouring beach body approved sips. Salty Road Taffy is also on hand to sweeten things up with artisan salt water taffy in flavors like Strawberries and Cream – its equal parts nostalgic and eat the whole box right now.
Accessories are key, of course. Beachy accessories Instagram can’t get enough of. London’s Sun Jellies remixes retro with its pastel basket totes and Tidal’s flip flops are the American-made essential you shouldn’t hit the Jitney without. Top things off with a statement tee from Bando, colorful sunnies from Pitch Night alum (and a local designer you’re about to see everywhere) Carla Colour , and Coola sunblock and you’re good to get go.
