In our frenetic digital age, by-hand illustrations are even more special. And as Lord & Taylor’s liquidates its iconic Fifth Avenue flagship, this treasure trove of vintage illustrations is all the more poignant.
Tomorrow, Emily Eermans Evans Gallery kicks off a collection of drawings and watercolors from the Jeremiah Studio Collection, (Jeremiah Goodman was Lord & Taylor’s head advertising illustrator). His drawings appeared in the New York Times and the retailer’s catalogs from the mid 1950s to the mid 1980s. Many include accessories, and with vintage handbags on the rise, it’s exciting to go back to the source.
In addition to advertising illustrations for Lord & Taylor, the show also includes travel sketches of Europe and the Caribbean.
