Executives changes and new appointments recently were announced at Barneys, Stage Stores, Bebe, Sears Holdings and Aeropostale.

New York–Barneys announced today that Dennis Freedman has been named its new creative director. He replaced Simon Doonan who will assume the new position as creative ambassador-at-large. Freedman, who will report to Mark Lee, ceo, will be responsible for the overall creative direction of Barneys New York, including the Co-Op and in the areas of all photographic and video images, graphic design, store design and image, and visual merchandising. Freedman will also serve as creative curator of the Barneys New York windows. Freedman had been creative director at W magazine for 20 years until he left last year.

In his new role, Doonan, who has been creative director for the specialty retailer since 1986, will be key media spokesperson for the company, will continue to contribute to special window projects, will host special events with customers and media, and will serve as roving ambassador with links to all creative and communication areas including social media. 

Houston–Stage Stores has announced that Oded Shein has joined the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Shein succeeds Edward Record, who was appointed chief operating officer of the company in February 2010 but retained CFO responsibilities while the search for his replacement was underway. As CFO, Shein will report to Record and oversee the company’s accounting, internal and external financial reporting, tax, investor relations, financial planning and analysis, loss prevention, and treasury operations. Shein, who was most recently vice president of finance at department-store operators Belk Inc., spent 14 years at Charming Shoppes.

Brisbane, CA–Bebe Stores Inc. has hired Renee Bell as its new executive vice president of merchandising, joining the women’s wear retailer later this month. Bell brings has a 20-year track record in women’s specialty retail, from buyer through various management and executive positions. She most recently served as the president and chief merchandising officer for Metropark USA.

Hoffman Estates, IL–Sears Holdings has announced changes at senior executive level to its retail and apparel operations.
Deidra Cheeks Merriweather is promoted to the role of senior vice president and president, retail services, succeeding James Haworth. Most recently SVP, procurement and finance, Merriweather joined the company in 2001.

Meanwhile, Lana Cain Krauter joins Sears on Feb. 1 as senior vice president and president. Sears Apparel. Krauter was most recently president and chief merchandising officer for Bealls Department Stores, and has also worked for JC Penney, Goody’s Family Clothing, and Sears, Roebuck & Co.

New York–Aeropostale recemtly announced that Marc D Miller, its senior vice president of strategic planning and new business development, has been appointed as chief financial officer. In addtion, the company made two other executive appointments to realign its leadership team. Michael J Cunningham, president, will expand his role to planning and allocation, construction, logistics and real estate. He will also remain responsible for the finance organisation, investor relations and information technology, a statement said. Meanwhile, Mary Jo Pile, senior vice president and chief stores officer has been promoted to executive vice president, customer engagement. Pile will assume additional responsibilities over marketing including e-commerce in addition to her current responsibilities over all store operations.

Dallas–Tandy Brands‘ chief financial officer M. C. (Craig) Mackey has resigned from the Company to pursue other opportunities. Robert D. Martin has been appointed to serve as interim chief financial officer while the company searches for a permanent replacement.
