Karl Lagerfeld is taking on the Big Apple. Located at 420 Broadway in New York’s SoHo area, the ready-to-wear, footwear and handbag flagship will sit near Chanel and Fendi stores (two labels that Lagerfeld helms as a designer).
“Opening the first KARL LAGERFELD store in the United States is an exciting milestone in our brand’s continued global growth,” said Pier Paolo Righi, CEO of KARL LAGERFELD. “New York City is an international fashion capital with a modern spirit and energy that
make it the ideal setting for our new flagship. With our W. Broadway location, we can invite our consumers to immerse themselves in the complete KARL LAGERFELD retail experience and continue to build meaningful connections with them.”
The 3,230-square-feet space’s décor is inspired directly by Karl Lagerfeld’s personal home and studio, with each furnishing telling a story — from antique mirrors to velvet chairs and luxurious marble
finishes. A bespoke carpet has a red border around its edges, mimicking the border Lagerfeld draws on sketches. Another highlight is a library wall inspired by Lagerfeld’s famous library in his studio, where he houses a part of his collection of over 300,000 books.
The flagship will showcase KARL LAGERFELD and KARL LAGERFELD PARIS ready-to-wear for women and men, plus accessories and footwear. It will further offer the Karl Ikonik
collection, which features a playful graphics of Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic character and his famous feline, Choupette. The label is also jumping on the beauty bandwagon, debuting the new KARL LAGERFELD + ModelCo cosmetics collection, which has been developed in collaboration with the Australian beauty brand.
The flagship will also host new events, activations and exclusives, namely KARL LAGERFELD X Kaia (as in model Kaia Gerber) launching September 2018.
