Reebok Angers Females with Male Alien Stompers Sneakers Launch

In What's New, Industry News by Accessories Staff

Alien RipleyIn the classic sci-fi “Alien” movies, the star was a woman. And a bad-a**, take-no-prisoners heroine at that.

So it’s not surprising that females attacked Reebok for releasing its “Alien Stompers” shoe in all male sizes. The shoes quickly sold out all of its 426 pairs.

Apparently yesterday, April 26, or 4/26, was hailed as “Alien Day,” matching the name planet LV-426 from the movies. So the timing of Reebok’s launch was well planned.

Women weren’t amused at how it all went down, and Reebok got the brunt of the criticism on Twitter.

According to reports, however, Reebok said the shoes were released in “unisex” sizes of US Men’s 3.5 – 12, which is a typical size range for a unisex model.

We cry foul.
