New York–There’s speculation daily about which stars are in the running—or may have already signed—to play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the film version of E.L. James’ bestselling Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.

While we cannot shed any light on which stars may portray the lead characters, the book franchise is definitely expanding into fashion, namely costume jewelry. Last week, Carole Postal, president of CopCorp Licensing, announced that H.E.R. Accessories was signed to create and market jewelry based upon the “mommy porn” books.

“H.E.R. Accessories incorporated various signature items and catchphrases from the books into designs for its Fifty Shades of Grey jewelry,” said Postal. “Millions of readers have been drawn into these books and now H.E.R. has created a fun, fashionable jewelry line for female fans in their 20s, 30s and beyond.”

The line, which is scheduled to be introduced next year, is just one of what will be dozens of licenses for the books. Other licenses include Freeze Clothing for T-shirts, hoodies, etc.; HYP for hosiery and garter sets; and, Barely Stated for women’s loungewear, sleepwear.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Fifty Shades phenomenon,” said H.E.R. Accessories CEO Hymie Anteby. “E. L. James was excited by the prototype samples we sent her so we are confident her fans will love these items as well.”

The trilogy of books by  James—Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed—tell the story of the relationship between graduate Anastasia Steele and young billionaire Christian Grey, a “relationship that grows in sexual intensity as Christian introduces his new partner to the world of submission and dominance that he inhabits.” The series has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide, including more than 32 million copies in the United States.
