If you’ve ever wanted to pitch your accessories brand to Accessories Magazine but weren’t sure how to go about it, Editor-in-Chief Lauren Parker explains the process with this thorough podcast, offering an honest look at what gets picked up and why.
A huge thanks to Sarah Shaw Consulting, whose “Get a Street Smart MBA With Sarah Shaw” provides invaluable insider industry info. Take a listen and please share!
Accessories Magazine gets hundreds and hundreds of pitches for features, trend page inclusion, launch events and more, so it’s important to do things right to catch a busy editor’s eye.
Tips: Make things clear, make things easy, answer anticipated follow-up questions (so no follow-up is needed), and always provide the original information when “circling back” on the original pitch. And if you send attachments or a link to images, please also embed one image in the email body copy so when editors read emails on the subway, they can see what the email is talking about without having to download images.
And a rant word from the grammar police: Editors are word nerds, so know that every YOUR INVITED subject line adds a gray hair and a worry line about the state of our educational system and the future of mankind. #jokingnotjoking
