Paris Haute Couture SS18: Our Favorite Accessories So Far, From Cool to Crazy

In Runways, What's New, Industry News by Lauren Parker, Accessories Magazine

The City of Lights might as well be called The City of Accessories! So far, the Paris Haute Couture Spring 2018 shows have featured plenty of dramatic accessories strutting down the catwalks. A few of our favorites, and some unusual ones that should spark some (more accessible) ideas!

Dior Haute Couture Paris Spring Summer 2018/FirstView

DIOR’S FACE MASKS
Obviously more theatrical than practical, we loved these ethereal masks for the fact that they framed the amazing eye makeup happening behind them. As the beauty industry grows and consumers continue to get more experimental, look for more ways to draw attention to eyes. Bangs have already become a hair trend, so why not other eye-framing items?

Ellery Haute Couture Paris Spring Summer 2018/FirstView

ELLERY’S FULL-FRONTAL NECKLACE
Comprised of hundreds of circle links, this floor-grazing necklace is certainly the way to make an entance into a room. Paired with mod white booties, this literally swinging necklace channeled the swinging 60s.

Chanel Haute Couture Paris Spring Summer 2018/FirstView

CHANEL’S VEILS
Topped with flowers, Chanel took what looked like Sicilian widow veils and made them much happier! They were topped with bunches of light colored florals and white/silver dresses.

Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture Paris Spring Summer 2018/FirstView

ALEXANDRE VAULTHIER’S BROOCHES
The oversized sharp shoulders, the narrow black sunglasses, the giant brooches, the veiled hat… this was an 80s moment if there ever was one, and now we’re thinking about Grace Jones.

Giorgio Armani Prive Haute Couture Paris Spring Summer 2018/FirstView

GIORGIO ARMANI PRIVE’S GIANT ROCKS
Leave it to Armani to reinvent the choker with such a dramatic nod to Pantone’s Color of the Year: Ultraviolet. The giant amethyst rocks were wire wrapped and the perfect accent to the watercolor prints.

Antonio Grimaldi Haute Couture Paris Spring Summer 2018/FirstView

ANTONIO GRIMALDI’S SCARF SLEEVE
Ok, we’re pretty sure this scarf/sleeve concoction was part of the dress, but it got us thinking. Why not have a detachable sleeve that wraps around the neckline like a scarf?

Givenchy Haute Couture Paris Spring Summer 2018/FirstView

GIVENCHY’S SINGLE DUSTER
Continuing the single earring trend, and hijacking the tassel trend, Givenchy turned it up to 11 with these extra long and extra sultry gold dusters. All a gal needs is one.
