French fashion illustrator Izak Zenou has something new to add to his expanding CV.
The artist, mostly known for his “Bendel Girl” drawings for retailer Henri Bendel, has been tapped by intimates brand Hanro of Switzerland to create an art mural for its Meatpacking District flagship store along Washington street.
“I actually worked with Hanro in 2014, when I was asked to be a contributing artist for its ‘130 Years of Dressing The Most Seductive Women’ exhibit at that time,” says Zenou, who will also launch his own accessories label sometime this Fall 2016. “So when they approached me recently and asked me to do a mural in their New York flagship store, I said yes. It was challenging because I had to draw on a big scale setting but I managed to do it still.”
Zenou’s artwork for Hanro’s store features girls in lingerie, rendered through soft, feminine illustrations in light colors. It will be on display for six months.
To formally launch the mural, Hanro USA’s president Jan Snodgrass hosted a VIP cocktail reception in the brand’s Washington street boutique, together with fashion photographer Nigel Barker, style influencer Fiona Byrne and actress/model Selita Ebanks.
