Not Just for Kids: Harry Potter Rolls Out New Licenses and a Retail Concept

In What's New, Industry News by Lauren Parker, Accessories Magazine

Harry Potter fans, rejoice. Not only has Warner Bros. Consumer Products and GES teamed up to create retail experiences, but the fashion and decor licenses are rolling out as well.

Retail Experience

Taking the concept beyond Universal Studios theme parks, now the Harry Potter magic is coming to major shopping destinations. Christmas in the Wizarding World, a Harry Potter™ Themed Retail Experience, will debut at The Shops at South Town in Sandy, Utah This Holiday Season. The concept is part of a growing trend toward more experiential retailing, with lots of branded items on hand as well.

Fashion Licenses

Harry Potter fans are more grown up since the series made its book debut in 1998 (!), so it makes sense that the licenses are a bit more grown up as well. Expanding on the success of its Wonder Woman license last season, Alex and Ani has teamed up for another beloved character license.

Alex and Ani

In partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Alex and Ani just released an 11-piece capsule collection of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings adorned with symbols from the beloved series.  A sterling silver Deathly Hallows Ring Wrap ($28) opens the collection, which goes up to a Lumos Set of Three Expandable Wire Bangles ($98).

PB Teen

Pottery Barn has also gotten into the licensing action with its PBTeen line of Harry Potter room decor, backpacks and bedding.
