Whether you experienced late-1980s New York City first-hand, or revere it in your mind as a mythical moment of excess, debauchery and gold lamé, the new FX Series Pose captures the era perfectly. The dance musical debuts June 3 with an 8-episode first season, big hair, big dreams and all.
While the eye-catching fashions are definitely scene stealers, the series dives deeper. Set in 1987, Pose explores one of New York City’s most unique aspects: its juxtaposition of highly disparate life/society segments. The drag ball culture world, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene all collide in dramatic ways. Evan Peters and Kate Mara play a New Jersey couple that gets sucked into the glamour and intrigue of 80s NYC.
Pose also makes television history by featuring the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles, as well as the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a scripted series.
Tune in…and strike a pose!
