Milan – Accessories Magazine’s daily dispatch of the latest looks coming down the S/S 2017 runway, all filtered through the accessories lens.
Gucci’s Spring 2017 collection takes some cues from the fashions of yore. For example, its line-up of 5-inch wedges were inspired by the actual elevated footwear that strumpets wore in Venice back in the 15th century. Although to adapt to today’s times, designer Alessandro Michele decided that these would be a practical purchase, as the wedges can be dismantled to become a flat slipper and reassembled vice-versa. Other overarching themes to the collection were a nod to ’70s and ‘80s glamour and New Wave music, as rendered in cocktail designs accented with studded novelty eyewear, leather chokers and statement handbags with sequin appliques and kitschy motifs.
Fendi’s S/S 2017 collection was light and airy with some major visual volume. The collection was youthful and versatile, with its selections of separates done in fun stripes and illustrations, candy colors, 3D appliques and even rich floral embroidery. The accessories were eye-catching, too, as illustrated by quirky mixed media handbags with novelty shoulder straps. Over-sized sunglasses with gradient tints and open toed statement boots with cut-out accents.
Peter Dundas, Creative Director for Roberto Cavalli stuck to his roots for his S/S 2017 collection. Patchwork, long printed dresses, flare pants and an all-around ’70s hippy feel was the mood he set. Accessories were just as boho with retro long printed neckties, turquoise and natural stone statement chokers, chunky wooden-soled clog platforms and tiny braids intertwined in the hair all stood out.
