Marika Signs Multi-Year Licenses For Hosiery, Footwear

MarikaCommerce, CA—Marika, the shape-enhancing activewear and yoga brand belonging to FAM Brands, recently signed a multi-year licensing agreements with Wiesner Products Inc. for women’s hosiery and with SG Companies for women’s footwear.

The new licensees will add to the brand’s expanding portfolio of licensees and complement the existing Marika active apparel. The territory includes the United States and Canada with initial deliveries to key retailers beginning this holiday season for both newly licensed categories.

‘Grow and Enhance Marika Brand’

According to John Spotts, executive vice president international business development and licensing and Frank Zarabi, FAM Brands chief executive, “both companies are experts in their classifications and have strong retail relationships, superior design and sales teams, as well as outstanding expertise in both product development and sourcing. We are confident that they will continue to grow and enhance the Marika brand. ”

The new collections for each will follow Marika brand equities of function, performance and design aesthetics, including signature Marika details and themes. For example the hosiery will include contour arch support, double layer cushioning, moisture-wicking, seamless toe seams, and technical fibers and yarns to enhance performance. The Spring 2014 collection will include training socks, anti-blister socks, every day cotton/poly blend crews and a studio yoga sock. Retail price ranges are expected to range $6 to $18.

In footwear, the major focus for the Marika brand will be Body Wellness with three major product categories: performance training, fitness studio and sport-active lifestyle. Key features and product benefits include aero-tech engineered breathable uppers, light and flexible compression and 3D molded midsoles, and Marika Dry Wik linings. Retail will range from $24.99 to $59.99.

Founded in 1985, FAM Brands is a privately held company that manufactures branded and private label apparel under brands such as Marika, Balance Collection, Zobha, TEHÁMA, Peace and Pearls, Bally Total Fitness and now La Vie Jet Sette as well as licensed products featuring such labels as The Limited and Eddie Bauer. Marika, which was launched in 1982 with more than $3.5 billion in retail sales, boasts 17 patents and is known for its attention to design, quality and affordability.
