On Monday, August 13th, celebrity makeup artist and “Beauty Boy” Makeup by Samuel will be appearing at WWDMAGIC from 10:30 AM 11:30 AM for an intimate tutorial at the WWD Social House.
Known for dolling up the Kardashians, their famous BFF’s, pop singers before red carpets, the Real Housewives, and other famous faces, Makeup by Samuel will do a live makeup tutorial from scratch. He will also offer simultaneous commentary simultaneously to explain his process so guests can learn to recreate his sought-after brow and eyeshadow look. And after, they can swing by WWDMAGIC’s cash and carry beauty area GLAM to get some items of their own!
Below, a chat with this famed makeup artist:
When did you first fall in love with makeup?
I fell in love with makeup right after I finished high school. I started off as a photographer and eventually learned makeup. Once my hands touched a brush, I instantly knew makeup was for me.
Who were some of your early inspirations and role models?
Megan Fox, Kim Kardashian, JLo, Makeup By Mario and Kevyn Aucoin.
What was your first big break?
Working with Lilly Ghalichi in Houston.
You’ve worked with the likes of Chrissy Teigen, Kylie Jenner, among others. How do you ensure clients not only look beautiful but also feel beautiful?
I try to create a space where they’re able to be themselves and give them positive energy through my craft.
Who have you not worked with yet that you’d love to get in your chair?
Megan Fox, Beyonce, JLo, and of course, Rhi Rhi.
The “beauty boy” has become a buzzword in the beauty industry over the last few years.What does gender fluidity mean to you?
You can be whoever you want and express yourself in any form.
Why is it important that beauty brands emphasize inclusion for all races, genders, etc.
Everyone wants to feel beautiful because we’re created equally.
What are your favorite of-the-moment or up-and-coming beauty trends?
Glowy skin and glossy lids.

You launched a line of faux lashes with Lilly Lashes. Tell us about them. What makes them different?
I wanted to create a lash that made my clients feel fierce! I love creating custom lashes for my celebrity clients. Everyone asked me what lashes they were and I decided to make it into a lash band so that everyone could enjoy the Celebrity Cat eye look, which I love!
You’re speaking on a panel and doing a meet-and-greet at WWDMAGIC in Las Vegas this August. What are you most looking forward to at WWDMAGIC?
Sharing my story with others and hope they leave with motivation and inspiration.

They’re both art forms that need each other.
