THE FUTURE OF FASHION WITH EMERGING DESIGNERS

PENSOLE Footwear Design Academy
#21daysofdesign is a daily sketching contest created to empower aspiring designers to show their dedication and commitment to their goal of becoming a professional footwear designer. Help decide who will win the scholarship to attend PNCA@PENSOLE, a 12-week intensive design program created to teach aspiring designers the Product Creation Process through the lens of Footwear, Apparel & Accessories and Color 8 Materials. The winner will also have a chance to see their sketch made and sold at retail! BOOTH #82500

FIDM SCHOLARSHIP x AWARDS
Current footwear design students at FIDM will showcase their designs at the front of ON POINT, South Hall, Level 2 – in an effort to win a scholarship. Awards will be given on Monday at 3pm in the ON POINT lounge in the center of the hall.

SUSTAINABILITY & FILM SCREENING

SOURCING at MAGIC’s focus is sustainability.  Multiple seminars offered to show you how to close the loop on production, processing and recycling by bringing environmentally-friendly practices to the forefront.

FILM SCREENING OF “RIVERBLUE
Narrated by Jason Priestly on Monday, 8/13 at 1:30pm LVCC, North Hall, Level 2, Room N250. The film examines fashion and denim’s role in the destruction of our rivers, its effect on humanity, and the solutions that inspire hope for a sustainable future. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the executive producer of the film, a representative from the UNITED NATIONS, and Denim industry leaders from MARITHE & FRANCOIS GIRBAUD, JEANOLOGIA and TRIARCHY

PORTUGESE FASHION IS TRENDING
Some of the industry’s hottest designers and styles are coming out of Portugal. This year, FN PLATFORM has a huge initiative around ‘Made In Portugal’ brands and designers. The show has partnered with Portuguese footwear association, APICCAPS and apparel trade association, Anivec, to showcase nearly 20 men’s and women’s Portuguese footwear brands.

BEAUTY IS BACK

WWDMAGIC’S GLAM AREA FEATURES NEW BRANDS
Check out 13 of the hottest brands in beauty on the show Concourse, including Lapcos, Breakups to Makeup, BKR and Color Street. The area will have cash & carry once again!

MAKEUP BY SAMUEL
The beloved beauty boy known for glamming up famous faces like Kylie Jenner and Chrissy Teigen, will host a panel on Monday, 8/13 @ 10:30AM, followed by a meet-and-greet. He will chat inclusive beauty, building a career in the beauty industry and all the beauty trends and tricks to know to achieve his famous “glow.”

NEW AREAS TO NOTE

ON:LINE @ WWDMAGIC
The launch of ON:LINE will showcase 30 new brands in the young contemporary ready-to-wear and accessories category. You can now see, touch and shop these collections on the show floor and year-round online.

ON POINT @ FN PLATFORM
ON POINT is the highly anticipated new destination for on-trend, affordably-priced footwear for women, men, juniors and children. Showcasing young contemporary, festival and trend-driven collections, it’s the perfect place to find low minimums, open stock, and margin-building items to add to your merchandise mix.

GOING BACK, BACK TO THE ’90s
WWDMAGIC will feature a ’90s Lounge complete (complete with arcade games!) along with a ’90s Fashion Installation (not limited to scrunchies, overalls and skinny glasses), as well as a ’90s Fashion Timeline featuring top pop cultural and fashion moments.

THE ART OF FASHION
Mexican artist, Michelle Ganane, will be on show site in SOURCING. She will be painting denim jackets on the show floor.

Vintage archive clothing company, Morphew Paradox, will have their in-house atelier on the show floor in SOURCING. The atelier will teach show attendees how to deconstruct an old garment and make it new again! This is just one initiative highlighting SOURCING’s ‘Sustainability’ theme this show.
