New York–Marchon, a leading eyewear company and licensee of Karl Lagerfeld since 2008, and Italia Independent Group announced last week the launch of a capsule collection designed by Lagerfeld and Italia Independent.
The collaboration is a two-year agreement beginning in October. The collection will feature both sunwear and optical frames for women and men and consist of three sunglass frames (1 women, 1 men, 1 unisex) and three optical frames (1 women, 1 men, 1 unisex). The collection is set to launch in October. Italia Independent Group will manage the Italian market and Marchon will handle all other international distribution. This capsule collection will have its own specific logo that reflects the mix of both creative companies.
About this collaboration and new capsule collection Lagerfeld said: “I love velvet gloves on iron hands and velvet sunglasses…on steel eyes.”
Lapo Elkann, co-founder /chairman of Italia Independent Group, said, “I am proud of this collaboration, that represents an extraordinary example of teamwork between a multinational company like Marchon, an iconic brand as Karl Lagerfeld and a fast growing reality as brand, like Italia Independent. It’s an important recognition of the work that Italia Independent has done over the years in terms of innovation and product development; the passion for I-I of an icon like Karl Lagerfeld, represents a legitimization for the glasses with velvet effect that we launched in 2009.”
Noted Pier Paolo Righi, chief executive at Lagerfeld: “I love the idea of bringing two incredible creative personalities and style icons like Lapo and Karl together and this resulting in amazing product.”
