From one “legend” to another, Swiss watch company Jaeger-LeCoultre has created a limited-edition Reverso watch as a tribute to the award-winning 1960s style-heavy series, and a typed letter from Sterling is the perfect finishing touch.
Available this February, the Grand Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribue to “Mad Men” will link two iconic style forces. Only 25 of the watches will be produced.
In 1931, Jaeger-LeCoultre created the patented Reverso for polo players, who would flip over the dial to protect it from damage while riding (and reveal the engraved flip side). The Deco-styled Reverso has evolved over the past 80 years with new faces, sizes and complications, and now it has a pop-culture twist.
Honoring the iconic style of “Mad Men,” the limited-edition watch is presented in a walnut commemorative box featuring the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce logo embossed and hand-inscribed on the back of each numbered piece.
Each piece also includes a personalized commemorative letter from Roger Sterling, several high quality Jaeger-LeCoultre advertisement reproductions, pictures of the Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin Tribute to “Mad Men” and a copy of Roger Sterling’s book “Sterling’s Gold,” autographed by show creator and executive producer, Matthew Weiner.
“Certain legends draw their strength from their age,” says Jérôme Lambert, CEO, Jaeger-LeCoultre. “Frozen in the past, immobilized forever, they speak only of the past. But sometimes, the magic is so great that a strange phenomenon takes place: the legend lives, breathes, mutates, becomes more beautiful, all the while retaining its aura. The Reverso is so unique that with the passing of time, it has been made in many guises without losing its essence.”
