Designer Kate Spade left her eponymous brand and launched the Frances Valentine handbag and footwear label but continued to be associated with her namesake. After Kate Spade’s tragic suicide, Frances Valentine has launched The Kate Bag. The bag honors the designer who had even changed her name to Kate Valentine Spade.
The bag takes inspiration from the first iconic handbag line created by the designer 25 years ago. “A tribute to Kate, this bag honors her impeccable sense of style and timeless aesthetic. Kate’s imprint on design is singular and is the driving force behind everything we create at Frances Valentine,” states the company.
Retailing for $195, The Kate Bag is a top handle tote in nylon with black and white cotton twill striped lining. It comes in black, navy, red and green. The Kate Bag will be available starting Sept 6th at Barneys New York Madison Ave, Barneys.com and FrancesValentine.com.
In addition, 20% of each sale will go to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, in keeping with Kate’s support of children’s charities.
