Item of the Day: Benjamin Int’l Recycled Sarong Hats

In Item of the Day, What's New by Lauren Parker, Accessories Magazine

The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, the weather is warm… and our dermatologists continue to pester us with sunscreen lectures! Since we don’t like the sticky stuff, we’re going for the fun, floppy hat solution. We love these styles from Benjamin International, which are a colorful melange of print and pattern.

The cotton is also soft and packable, making them easy to take on any day, weekend or extended summer trip.

Another plus? They’re made from recycled sarong pieces, thus reducing waste in the factory and thus on the environment.

Each of these one-of-a-kind hats has been patched together with recycled Batiked ceremonial clothes, according to the company. Batiked cloths are still used today in traditional ceremonies and weddings or when people gather at the beach to throw their problems into the sea.

Reduced waste? Easier on the environment? Throwing problems into the sea? We can definitely get behind all of that!
