One of the real charms of visiting Paris is discovering that quaint little bistro off the beaten track or an exquisite jewel-like small art museum. While you ought to visit major shopping thoroughfares, such as Rue Saint-Honoré, there’s something to be said for going on your own treasure hunt on Rue de Charonne. Or Rue Pierre Charron where you might wander into the workshop/showroom of a newcomer: Baude Paris.
Founded by Elodie Baude, a globetrotting creator (formerly of LVMH, Ines de la Fressange and Jean-Charles de la Castelbajac), Baude combines what its founder calls combining the “essential style that embodies Parisians.” Central to the look is her version of the clutch bag, many rendered in a rainbow of exotic skins and some decorated with fine jewelry. Yet despite using such elevated materials, Baude maintains an understated tone.
Chief among these is the “Favorite” which for the young brand lives up to its name. The slender east-west clutch is elegant enough for an evening out yet perfectly suitable for daytime, too.
Audrey Hepburn was right when she once said: “Paris is always a good idea.”
