Deborah Drattell Item of the Day: Deborah Dratell

American opera composer Deborah Drattell has given us a new reason to shout Brava! Previously the composer-in-residence at LincolnCenter’s New York City Opera, the Glimmerglass Opera Company and the New Orleans and Denver Symphonies, Drattell has since found a new outlet for her creative voice: belt designing.

Born like all useful things, from necessity, Drattell was inspired to create her own line when planning her daughter’s wedding and finding the perfect belt seemed to be an impossible task.

This Aida belt, made of hair calf and featuring an antique silver scroll picture frame buckle, is the perfect accessory to take you from day to night. Highly wearable and available in brown, gray and black, the Aida (like all belts in Drattell’s collection) is also handmade in New York City. This charming accessory will have you singing (maybe even in Italian) with joy!
