Item of the Day

In Item of the Day, What's New by Robinson Maynes

The Statue of Liberty is about as New York as… well, let’s just say it’s probably as New York as you can get. While still having Independence Day on our brains, we can’t help but feel nostalgic for this monumental representation of American liberty.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of this neoclassical sculpture, RJ-Romain Jerome has created 125 limited-edition liberty-motif timepieces, in collaboration with The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation and Gold Leaf Corporation.

Surrounding the dial of this self-winding watch are 12 glorious spikes reminiscent of the Miss Liberty’s crown. These spikes, which will patina over time much like the statue herself, surround a verdigris dial that also evokes the color of oxidized copper. Playing against the beautiful greenish-blue color of the dial, are antiqued alligator straps adding a final touch of American elegance.
