In honor of Giving Tuesday, we picked Tory Burch’s Purple Purse as our Item of the Day. But first, a little background…
Entering its fifth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Worldwide, consumers are encouraged to either donate directly to charities or purchase items with a charitable component. And that’s where the Purple Purse comes in.
Allstate Foundation Purple Purse, Kerry Washington and Tory Burch have teamed up to create five limited-edition Purple Purse handbags. Designed by Tory Burch, each purse purchase will help domestic violence and financial abuse survivors find safety and security. Purple Purse was chosen as a symbol because a purse represents the center of a woman’s financial domain, and purple is the national color for domestic violence awareness.
From November 29 to December 3, a new handbag will be released daily for auction on eBay. In the coming days, details on how to bid will be unveiled on Purple Purse Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, as well as on Kerry Washington’s social channels.
Today’s inaugural handbag features the Gemini Link, a design motif released this summer and distinguished by two gold-colored links joined together—a graphic abstraction of the brand’s iconic logo. The Gemini Link’s symmetrical hardware celebrates life’s dualities and the two sides to every story.
This auction is run by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) and 100 percent of auction sales will be distributed to the 2016 Purple Purse nonprofits nationwide to empower survivors of domestic violence. For more information about the issue of domestic violence visit: NNEDV.org.
