The new collection, which includes clutches and totes with three different faces and eye colors, is aptly named Dollface and marks Fetherston’s first foray into accessories. What’s more, Dollface has become Fetherston’s travel companion, tagging along with her to work, the pool, on a hike in LA, at happy hour, on the Brooklyn Bridge, at the CFDA awards at Carine Roitfeld’s book signing and more. You can view the many adventures of Dollface on Instagram with the hashtag #WhereisDollface.
Erin Fetherston was inspired to design this collection based on a doll her grandmother hand sewed for her when she was a little girl.
“I love the tradition of needlework, which still exists in small parts, though we really don’t see much of it anymore,” Says Fetherston. “Dollface is based on a doll my grandmother originally hand-made for me as a child. I can remember her doing the needlework for her face on an embroidery hoop, which inspired the clutch case itself. Even her clasp resembles the lock on a hoop.”
“The idea came from my love of travel and road trips,” says Fetherston. “Hitting the open road is the perfect thing to do to get inspired and relax all at once, especially in the summer, when we have time to explore new favorite shops, sights and food from coast to coast, and wherever else dollface takes us.”
Where will your Dollface take you this summer? Whether it is to work, on a European vacation or out shopping, Dollface will be there for the adventure. However, don’t be alarmed when everyone suddenly starts calling you Dollface on the street.
