Fashion Week is coming up before we know it, and we’re already planning our accessories wardrobe. First on the list? A sleek hands-free mini backpack that’s equally chic for pushing through well-dressed crowds and perfectly camera-ready when we need to set it on the floor while sitting front-row.
This mini backpack by Alexandra De Curtis is just what we conjured up in our minds. It’s just 7″ x 11″ and its cobalt blue piping and interior add just a touch of pop, while the raised diamond pattern adds textural interest to black on black.
According to her bio on Handbag Designer 101, de Curtis took a winding path to bag design. Raised in Rome, she also lived in San Francisco and London. After building a successful career in advertising and doing a stint at Vogue UK, she enrolled at London’s Cordwainers College and then set up her first business, a line of stylish baby bags for busy, professional mothers. The later expanded into luxurious handbags and clutches and is particularly fond of rich colors and unusual materials (salmon skin is a particular favorite, a surprisingly soft eco-friendly material). She also designs custom hardware for each bag, so every piece is distinctive.
