From anchors to zebra, Portland, Oregon-bsed Sock It to Me has a sock forCopy of Mondo every personality (as long as that personality isn’t shy!)

Sock It to Me’s origin story begins in 2004, when founder Carrie Atkinson went through the obligatory “real job” search. With degree in hand and a naivety unique only to a recent college grad, she had no luck finding a satisfying job in her field. Years before, however, she’d spent time in Korea teaching English, seeing stylish kids wearing colorful, fun socks. That sparked an idea. She made another trip to Korea, bought all the socks that would fit in her luggage and sold them at a local Portland market. Ten years and a staff of 20 later, socks from her company can be found in retail stores across the globe.

In addition to its endless array of designs, Sock It to Me ups the ante by holding an annual Design-A-Sock Contest in celebration of designers, art, community, diversity and fashion. The international contest invites artists of all ages and abilities to submit their unique sock design for a chance to win a cash prize and have their design manufactured in a collection.  Over the last decade, the contest has received thousands of worldwide entries from around the world that have provided inspiration. Once the designs are received, a VIP voting panels selects the top 30, and the public then votes for their favorite.

Sock It to Me has also participated in a celebrity collaboration with renowned designer and Project Runway: All Stars winner, Mondo Guerra. Two of his designs, the Mondo Gurerra Houndstooth (pictured above) and the Mondo Gurerra Abstract, can be found on the company’s site.
