In this hard-fought battle, the line between winners and losers can be thin. New subscription boxes are popping up every day. There are now 3,500, an increase of 40% from a year before. And a full 47% of subscription boxes launched in the past 12 months, according to the warehouse management company Snapfulfil.
McKinsey has found that in the overcrowded world of subscription boxes, the wheat is now separating from the chaff. Of the many new subscription boxes that have mushroomed over the last few years, at least 13% have ceased operations, according to the website My Subscription Addiction, which tracks every new box that hits the market.
