Topeka, Kansas—Payless ShoeSource announced Tuesday that 142 positions worldwide would be eliminated as part of a business restructuring following the close of the sale of its parent, Collective Brands, in October.

As part of that sale, Collective Brands’ Performance + Lifestyle (PLG) Group, the $1 billion unit with primarily wholesale brands was sold to Wolverine Worldwide.

The company announced that 97 open positions around the globe would not be filled.

“The PLG unit was supported by the corporate team in Topeka and by staff in our various global functions,” the retailer said. “As such, 97 open positions have been eliminated throughout our global organization, as well as about 45 occupied positions here at our Topeka headquarters.”

Severance and outplacement services are being provided to the displaced associates, the company said.
