Paris—In another example of a luxurygoods house shoring up its supply chain, Hermès said today that it would be buy d’Annonay tannery.

Based in the Rhone Valley, d’Annonay is one of the luxurygoods brand’s key suppliers for calf leather with a staff of 80. Terms of the acquisition were undisclosed.

“This acquisition is in line with the strategy of preservation and development of sources of supplies and know-how related to them,” Hermès said in a statement.

Hermès already owns two tanneries in France, one in Italy and an exotic skin tannery in Louisiana as part of a strategy to invest with key leathergoods and artisans to secure supply chains.
