New York–Havaianas has gone DIY.

Havaianas flip flops, one of the many lovely things to come out of Brazil, has updated its website to allow for consumer customization.

Now with the click of the mouse, consumers can select one of 15 different colored bottoms and straps. Consumers can also select from 35 to 40 embellishment pins (up to two pins per pair), which can be mounted at the top of the strap.

Pin motifs include all 26 letters of the alphabelt, along with evil eyes, skull and cross bones, hearts, stars, chili peppers, initials, palm trees, birds, flowers and more

“2011 will be a huge year for Havaianas and the MYOH experience will play an important part of brand growth. Our brand loyalists can now express their own personal choices on their favorite footwear,” from Afonso Sugiyama, president of Havaianas U.S.

Consumers can also share their “MYOH” creations and purchases via social media like facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc.

Make Your Own Havaianas retail for $25 a pair, with the additional cost of $2.50 for each pin. For now, the customization options are all solid colors. But the website also sells a variety of ready-made flip flops with printed footbed patterns ranging from tribal prints to a Missoni capsule collection.
