In a sign of the times, some leather handbag lines have launched lower-priced “vegan” leather diffusion lines as a way to offer something new (and lower priced) to existing retailers as well as open up new channels of distribution. Some brands have shifted away from leather altogether, repositioning their brand in a new way.
Case in point: Foley + Corinna. Starting this month, handbag line Foley + Corinna is doing the latter. The relaunch of the luxury handbag line will switch from real leather to an all “vegan leather” line.
Foley + Corinna prides itself upon the conversion to cruelty-free material. With the change in material, there will be a significant reduction of the price (the old price range was $198 to $425 and the new range is $78 to $198). The brand will continue to produce high-quality handbags that allow for longer durability due to the use of liberated leather, notes the company. With easier maintenance of the bag, customers will not have to worry about damage caused over time, unlike real leather that is easily worn.
“Creating Bags that maintain all of the design elements while being more budget friendly allows today’s customer to spend more on life experience while still being fashionable,” says Laura Lavin, CEO of Foley + Corinna.
With the eco-friendly renovation, the brand will regenerate its classic styles by staying true to its sophisticated city style as well as produce innovative and up-to-trend designs that evolve in the present. The new vegan line of Foley + Corinna handbags will be available at www.foleyandcorinna.com as well as retailers such as Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdale’s.
