First NY Luxury Watch Show Opens May 14

New York—While most of the latest watch styles can only be  seen at tradeshows in either Basel or Geneva, Switzerland, organizers are putting finishing touches on what they call “New York’s first luxury watch show.”

Scheduled for May 14 to 15, “TimeCrafters” is a watch-only event featuring the latest models from 19 watch brands. The event, which will be held at the Times Center in midtown, will allow American watch collectors, enthusiasts and others to get an up-close look at haute horology.

‘A Look Inside a Secret World’

Although BaselWorld allows anyone—including the public—to attend as long they pay the entrance fee, most American watch enthusiasts have to wait to see the newest watch models in the fall when they hit stores.

“We developed TimeCrafters because there really isn’t anything like it in America,” says Isabelle Boudringhin, general manger at ETI, producers of the show. “Our goal is to gather the world’s best watchmakers under one roof and create an exciting, upscale event that will provide visitors with not only access to the best brands but also inspiration and look inside this secret world.”

In addition to exhibitions by each of the watch brands, TimeCrafters will also present an exhibition of 60 timepieces that illustrate watchmaking and how it has developed “from its origins to present day.” The exhibition, its first time in the United States, is provided by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), an organization of top Swiss watchmakers that promote high-end mechanical watches.

FHH also is bringing along craftsmen from Jaeger-LeCoultre, Van Cleef & Arpels and Girard Perregaux who will be working at benches so visitors can get a first-hand look how extraordinary timepieces are made.

Watch brands scheduled to participate in the event include: A. Lange & Söhne, Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, Bvlgari, Cartier, Girard Perregaux, Harry Winston, Hublot, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, JeanRichard, Montblanc, Officine Panerai, Richard Mille, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin, Van Cleef & Arpels and Zenith.

TimeCrafters will be open to the public Saturday, May 14 to Sunday, May 15 at The Times Center, 242 West 41 Street. Advance registration is recommended. For further information, go to
