New York—Accessories brand Cayetano Legacy Collection (CLC) is looking to make a different kind of statement with its jewelry by creating possibilities in the Philippines– a country with lots of talent but few opportunities.

Sisters Karen Cayetano Leano, Gail Cayetano and Christine Cayetano Brigino—all first-generation Filipino Americans—founded CLC just last month hoping to give back to the Philippine Islands by sourcing its materials and employing the citizens to construct their designs.

The women’s accessories brand features handmade luxury statement necklaces using genuine, natural stones such as jade, amethyst, citrine and pearls that create a one-of-a-kind look. The collection retails for $60 to $200 and is available on the brand’s e-commerce site–

“Yes it’s cheaper and faster to utilize the resources of other countries that are more efficient in the manufacturing process, but we created this company on the basis that we would do everything we could to keep the process in the Philippines. When presented with this training program opportunity, we realized we could do more than we initially thought–this was a way to truly help boost the economy there,” said Christine Brigino, chief creative officer and co-founder.

Plans are also under way to debut a new handbag line, exclusively sourced and made in the Philippines through the design and manufacturing training programs that CLC supports.
