F.I.T. Museum Explores Uniform Dressing

In Uncategorized, What's New, Industry News by Lauren Parker

From sports to military to transportation and more, uniforms have always been a part of our apparel lexicon. Fashion designers have long taken cues from uniforms, even designing them for airlines and such, and an upcoming show at the Museum at F.I.T. explores this intertwined relationship.

Uniformity, opening May 20, explores the dynamic history behind a variety of uniforms, considering their social role and their influence on high fashion.

The exhibition is themed into four categories of uniforms: military, work, school and sports. Within each, historic uniforms are juxtaposed with the high fashion looks they have inspired.
