Viva International Group Names Antonio Bortuzzo as President

Somerville, NJ–Viva International Group recently named Antonio Bortuzzo as its new president, succeeding Sherry Lay who served as interim president following the departure of Frank Rescigna several months ago.

Most recently, Bortuzzo was chief executive officer of Alain Mikli International Group in Paris. Mikli designs, manufactures and distributes ophthalmic frames and sunwear, and has retail stores worldwide.

Prior to that, Bortuzzo was chief executive of Allison SpA, a fashion optical eyewear wholesaler in Padova, Italy, and, from 2002 to 2007 he was chief executive officer/ general manager of Marcolin Group, Belluno as well as chief executive officer of Marcolin, U.S. in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“Antonio’s professional experiences, outstanding credentials and leadership skills will be a real asset to Viva and our entire HVHC Inc. family of companies,” said David Holmberg, HVHC Inc.’s president/ceo. “He is a visionary leader with significant industry experience, and I am confident he will help us continue to grow our business and enhance our presence as an industry leader.”

Bortuzzo start this new position on May 6.

Ascena Announces New Chief Merchandising Officer for maurices

mauricesSuffern, NY—Ascena Retail Group, Inc. named Erin Stern as executive vice =resident and chief merchandising officer with their maurices brand effective April 15. Based in Duluth, MN, maurices is an 860-store chain serving a 20-something female (sizes 0-24) in small- and mid-markets.

Stern joins maurices with over two decades of retail experience including chief merchant for Juicy Couture and president of bebe Sport. The majority of Erin’s retail career was with Gap, Inc. where she held several senior merchandising positions across multiple product categories in their Old Navy division.

FGX International Hires César Melo as Chief Executive Officer

Smithfield, RI—FGX International recently named César Melo as chief executive officer, effective March 4, 2013. Melo arrives at FGX International after a 23-year career at Colgate-Palmolive, one of the world’s leading consumer products companies.

Melo has worked in the United States, Central and South America, Asia, Europe and Russia in roles of increasing responsibility in general management and marketing with Colgate-Palmolive. His final position with Colgate was vice president–marketing, based in Geneva, Switzerland.
