Dog Day Afternoon: Christofle Hosts Bring Your Dog to Shop Day

New York–Sit! Stay! Shop! Such was the thinking behind Christofle’s dog-friendly recent retail event, held during I Love NYC Pets Month. The Madison Avenue silver and crystal boutique, which has long had relationships with animal-friendly charities, decided to lavish its customers (and their beloved dogs) with treats for all.

While the two-legged guests sipped martinis, browsed and shopped, four-legged dogs were treated by Lisa Fortunato, owner and founder of the Brooklyn-based Robbie dawg, to organic treats from her cookbook The Everything Cooking for Dogs Book While dogs enjoyed treats, their owners got to indulge in martinis, browse and shop, knowing that 20% of the day’s proceeds were donated to the Picasso Veterinary Fun of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals.

So how did the dogs behave? “This is Madison Avenue, New York. Many of these are small dogs and they’re used to small spaces,” says PR manager Leslie Fields. “They were truly pampered–and they loved it!”
