Citizen Taps Kelly Clarkson for Push to Women’s Market

Lyndhurst, NJ—She began her music career as winner of “American Idol,” now Citizen Watch is hoping Grammy-Award winner Kelly Clarkson will help keep its watches No. 1 on consumers’ hit parade.

This week, Citizen announced that Clarkson will join its team of brand ambassadors that already includes Eli Manning, New York Giants quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion; Matt Kenseth, two-time Daytona 500 champion; and Victoria (Vika) Azarenka, currently ranked as the No.2 professional women’s tennis player.

Focus on Women’s Market in 2014

“In the coming year Citizen will focus on the women’s market with fashion-forward styling and breakthrough technological innovations to meet the needs of modern women’s lives,” said Jeffrey Cohen, president of Citizen Watch Co. of America. “We feel that Kelly Clarkson ideally reflects the values of our brand. The watch brand plans to feature Clarkson in its broadcast and print advertising in the spring season.

Kelly Clarkson, who recently wed and is expecting her first baby,  has released 6 studio albums (Thankful, Breakaway, My December , All I Ever Wanted, Stronger), 1 Greatest Hits album, sold more 20 million albums worldwide, and has had 10 singles in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. She is the recipient of 3 Grammy Awards, 4 American Music Awards, 3 MTV Video Music Awards, 2 Academy of Country Music Awards, 1 CMA Award and 12 Billboard Music Awards.
