New York—Rihanna stole the show more than once recently during Paris Fashion Week as she pranced around town showing off her fashion chops. The singer, who recently became the face of Balmain, is heading off on her new “Monster Tour” with rap legend Eminen.
But Riri will be taking a break on June 2 to attend the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards where the 26-year-old superstar will accept the Fashion Icon Award, presented in collaboration with Swarovski.
The Fashion Icon Award is given to an individual whose style has made a significant impact on popular culture on an international stage. Rihanna joins the ranks of past winners such as Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss, and Nicole Kidman.
The record-breaking recording artist, actress, and fashion designer will be recognized for her contributions to the fashion industry as well as her philanthropic partnership with the MAC AIDS Fund’s Viva Glam campaign.
“We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA chief executive.
Live video from the show will be featured on cfda.com.
