Brian Atwood's debut handbag collection

New York—The debut of footwear designer Brian Atwood’s first ever handbag line was today—and if you are a member of, you got to see (or buy) them first.

Atwood teamed up with Gilt, which launched the collection of four styles today on its flash sale website.

The collection was “created to be able to take a woman from the most glamorous event to a dinner at a small sidewalk café.” The Carla is a basic envelope clutch that comes in an array of materials and colors from cobalt blue suede to color blocked snakeskin. The Theodora and Iside are miniaudieres constructed from inlayed enamel. And the Kate is a clutch made of leopard print pony hair with a zipper closure and front snap pocket. Prices range between $1,050 and $1,850.

“Shoes and handbags are extremely important, they can make or break the outfit. I always design for a certain woman who is very confident, sophisticated, loves fashion and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself every now and then,” says Atwood. “What I love about Gilt is that it has a sophisticated customer and it brings an energy and excitement to online shopping.”

“We are thrilled to launch this partnership with Brian Atwood, making Gilt the exclusive retailer to launch his first-ever handbag collection,” says Jyothi Rao, general manager, women’s at Gilt. “Brian’s design is sophisticated and unique–perfectly suited to our customers.”

The Brian Atwood handbag collection sale continues through Sunday, April 1.
