Breaking Trends Spring 2019: Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang Spring 2019
New York fashion designer Alexander Wang has always had a keen eye for accessories, with his edgy clothing often fading into the background to let the handbags, jewelry and other accessories items steal the spotlight (or that’s at least how WE perceive things at Accessories Magazine!).

This Spring 2019 show was no different. In a palette of red, white and black, Wang made overt reverences to immigration and his Taiwanese-American heritage, an overall it was quite the melting pot. Qipaos evoked China, bandanas referenced Axl Rose (depite the Chinese symbols), football jerseys and Axl Rose bandanas referenced Americana, embellished face wraps evoked surgical masks, signet rings evoked an Americana statement of college, graduation and heraldry. And don’t forget the face paint evoking the good ol’ Stars and Stripes!
