Gucci’s Alessandro Michele is always known for theatrics (who else would stage a Resort 19 runway show in a French cemetery? That’s on fire?), but when you look closely and pull apart the ensembles, there are plenty of great ideas. Preppy green and pink was the predominant color palette, creating a sort of gothic garden party. From pale pink pants to hot pink tights and shoes, the hue ran the gamut, even accenting handbags and snakeskin prints.
As always, silk scarves were important tied in the hair, around necks and seemingly as an apparel print.
Shells were a key motif in jewelry, from long, linear shell earrings to giant shell pendants painted with Japanese geishas that seemed to have religious rays radiating from their heads.
The bold jeweled cross was everywhere, both in long, dramatic pendant form, to choker styles.
Other accessories included spiked crystal-covered sunglasses as well as fingertip hand wraps that were layered over opera-length gloves.
Scarabs also made dramatic appearances in rich coral/pink, usually paired with cross chokers.
